The Heart Behind SHE LEADS

Once a upon a time, a teenage girl was told by her Year 11 Modern History teacher that she would never amount to anything. I am that girl, and I truly believed those words.

It was a long journey from the stranglehold of hearing such devastating mistruth spoken over me by a person in authority, and it was one that I carried with me for many years.

I believe we all labour under the weight of words spoken over us; sometimes, words have come at us with great force, while other times, as a whisper. Nevertheless, we’ve all been dealt with words that we must contend with.

Many years ago, I read this quote by Zig Zigler,

”She is designed for accomplishment, engineered for success and endowed with the seeds of greatness.”

I have pondered this quote ever since, because it speaks to something that I did not always feel as a young person. I did not feel designed for accomplishment, or engineered for success. I did not even know what it meant to be endowed with the seeds of greatness. Coincidentally, the quote entered my life at the same time I was wrestling with the fallout of being told I would never amount to anything. Those words stuck like glue, yet Zigler’s quote entirely flipped them on their head. Could I actually be something, could I achieve something, could I perhaps even be successful after all?

Can we actually expect success in our various areas of life, and are we truly called to make a difference? What are those seeds of greatness? And what does that look like for us as women?

Our life is a journey; an unfolding story of good days and bad days living through the many challenges that life presents to us. We are all living incredibly full, rich, diverse, and challenging lives in the various spaces that we find ourselves. Life can be completely overwhelming, and stretching, and a constant juggling act. Yet still, I believe we are meant to experience it all to the full.

Emerging through my own battles of self-worth -- you know-- stressing out about people liking you, not liking you, and don’t even get me started on that sparkly, shiny, new battlefield that is social media. Online, people can determine to either like or unlike you on a whim, the quickest of hellos followed by the most silent of goodbyes. Our dependence on the opinion and esteem of others, while a natural human trait, will never fulfil us, nor grant us the immeasurable worth we have been bestowed. No, you need to realise who you are, and who you belong to. You, my dear friend, belong to Jesus. He loves and accepts you. He will never unfriend you!

When I was eighteen, I accepted Jesus into my life, and received his saving grace, his amazing grace. At that time, I experienced a tremendous weight lifting off my shoulders. Further to that, I received the understanding that I was loved completely, accepted and forgiven, and called to a great life, a life designed for me before time began. Honestly, that was truly mind blowing to my teenage mind, and I am still working that out day by day thirty-nine years later.

The heart of Everywoman, and of She Leads that every woman would know her significance in this life. You are unique, loved, and designed for greatness – actually possessing seeds of greatness, no mistake there. And yet many of us labour under a heavy atmosphere of insignificance and low self-worth at times, even to the point of feeling that our own voice is muffled. I have listened to many women’s stories of experiencing their voice being criticized – both the actual sound of their voice, and the important things they have to say. In many cases, they have had to live with their voice being shut down, never being celebrated, merely tolerated.

She Leads is about encouraging us to not only find our own voice, but to lift our voice when the time is right, to lift our heads toward heaven for the help we need, and to lift our hearts to find our real and bravest self. We are carrying a message of faith, hope and love to all we meet.

Our leadership as women is needed and is necessary for a better world. Our hearts are nurturing, but our hearts are also bold and courageous. We need great women leaders in all fields of life. Thank God for all the women who have forged a pathway for us today.

There are many things that rally us to host She Leads

Primarily, it is a passionate desire to invest in you and to stir those wonderful gifts within you, through stories and messages, and to set on fire every heart with a passion to serve and lead in our homes, churches, communities and marketplaces. It is to see women step out and lead in a way that we haven’t dreamed we could. I don’t know about you, but I am still learning. Let me just say that the openness to continue to learn is one of the signs of a growing leader -- we are ever-learning. I believe that in all of our endeavours, if we continue to humble ourselves and look out from our lives, remaining open to learn and receive from others, then we are on the road to leading a growing and effective life.

As a mum of three grown children who now have children of their own (six grandkids in total!), I have always wanted my kids to see a mum who is altogether one with her home life and her outside life -– if you know what I mean. I believe that more than ever our family, friends and colleagues need this synthesis of life for them to truly be impacted and for their curiosity to pique to explore further connections with us. It is a tough and cynical world that we live in, and to be honest, it time for us to be brave, unashamed, kind, and connected, and to dive in deep to receive all the help we can get. I love being around like-minded women who are facing similar battles, exploring new realms of leadership and discovering encouragement right where I am at!

To follow Jesus and to be all that you are called to be -- that’s our heart for all women. To be reminded that you are a beautifully-designed masterpiece, shaped to adorn a palace – with strength and beauty combined.

Ps 144:12
and our daughters will be like pillars carved to adorn a palace.

I am beyond excited to gather together, receive fresh insight and be encouraged to travel on in spite of any opposition from within, or from the outside! You are a daughter of the King. We are followers of Jesus Christ, and we are here to make a difference.

The heart behind She Leads is for you, beautiful leader, to pause, to stop for just a moment, and to hear your own heartbeat. Lay aside those responsibilities, and receive from heaven words that will refresh your soul, reignite your purpose within, and refuel you to walk that calling out in a world that is desperate for the life of Jesus through you.

Isaiah 40:31 AMP
But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him]
Will gain new strength and renew their power;
They will lift up their wings [and rise up close to God] like eagles [rising toward the sun];
They will run and not become weary,
They will walk and not grow tired.
